This directory contains software and documentation from the EAG project. The project on Extended Affix Grammars was performed at the University of Nijmegen, the Netherlands, in the period 1985-1995, with support from the Dutch research organization NWO. In the period 1998-2002 I continued the development of EAG in my own spare time, bringing the syntax of EAG closer to that of AGFL while retaining the expressive power of EAG. The latest version of EAG is 2.3, which is a rather intermediate version. Version 2.4 will contain an enhanced runtime system and better support for lexicons. This feature will enhance the use of EAG for parsing natural languages. This version will therefore contain two experimental grammars for English and Latin. In the near future EAG is to be distributed under GPL/LGPL (The compiler and documentation as GPL; the support libraries as LGPL to allow commercial usage of parsers generated by EAG).
